Ahead of Tokyo 2020, adidas have unveiled their latest running innovation: the adizero Pro. Crafted by revered designer Yoshitori Omori, the runner makes use of a new last mould created in Japan, and that’s just the tip of the iceberg.
The uppers are constructed of CELERMESH, a new single-layer synthetic that boasts an internal support structure for lockdown. Below that, midsoles combine both LIGHTSTRIKE and BOOST technologies for the first time in a running shoe. Meanwhile, a CARBITEX carbon-fibre plate keeps the sole in line with modern record-breakers.
‘On race day, you need to know that you’re wearing the best equipment possible so you can focus purely on the running,’ says four-time NYC Marathon winner Mary Keitany. ‘For me, the adizero Pro provides that peace of mind I need when I block everything out and get that tunnel vision.’
The adidas adizero Pro releases in select regions on April 1, with a worldwide drop scheduled for May 15.
